Consumer achievement award
This award recognises individuals who have experienced homelessness and made an outstanding contribution to improving the lives of others experiencing homelessness.
Talie is a passionate, creative and effective consumer advocate who has done much to help develop effective government responses to homelessness. After a period of experiencing homelessness and domestic and family violence, Talie wanted to use her background to ensure consumer voices are heard in government process and by those delivering services to people experiencing homelessness. This has included providing submissions and evidence into the NSW Government’s Review into Social Housing and providing presentations at the NSW Affordable Housing conference, the 2017 Regional Homelessness Summit and the launch of the National Homelessness Week. Talie also recently assisted the Industry partnership in the development of a resource to assist services conduct consumer participation and conducted a workshop with the Sydney Women’s Homelessness Alliance on Trauma Informed Care.
